Get to know other RPCVs here in Colorado through our welcome wagon dinners, many social events and service projects.
Welcoming RPCVs to Colorado
Whether you are an RPCV new to Colorado, or just returning home after your service abroad, we’re glad you’re here! As fellow RPCVs, we want you to know that the local Peace Corps community supports you, celebrates you, and honors your experience. We want to connect you with fellow RPCVs who can help make your adjustment easier. Whether you are looking to network your way into a new job, trying to find someone from your country of your service, or just looking for social opportunities, the Welcome Wagon Committee is here to assist you.
The Welcome Wagon Committee holds its signature “Welcome Dinner” twice a year—usually in the fall and again in the spring. Any RPCV new to Colorado, or recently returned from service, is welcome to attend! Dinners are sometimes hosted at a fellow RPCV’s home, or sometimes may be held in a local restaurant. Check the event calendar for the date of the next Welcome Dinner!
Connecting RPCVs around Colorado
The RPCVs of Colorado are active throughout the state of Colorado. We aim to build community and create a space for RPCV’s to engage with each other socially and through community service. You can connect with RPCVs who live near you by following our Facebook page or joining one of our many regional Facebook groups (see links to the left). This is the best way to connect with another RPCV in your area.
Every month RPCVs throughout the state plan and gather for events such as
- Happy hour meet ups
- Potlucks
- Brunch meet up
- Community service activities
- Meet up at a dog park with others who love animals
- Annual large events that attract 100 plus people such as the Holiday Party in December and Summer Picnic
- Book club
- Ski Trip at the YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch/Granby
Our RPCV friends to the north in Wyoming also have a Facebook group.
Social events
Join RPCVs of Colorado in sharing stories, meeting new friends, and raising funds for current PCV projects! We’d love to see you at one of our regular events, including monthly Happy Hours, bi-monthly Book Clubs, tri-yearly General Meetings, as well as our larger annual annual Summer Picnic, Storytelling Evening, Film Festival Viewing, Holiday Party Potluck, and Ski Trip.
We also have many onetime special events, so keep a lookout for fun occasions like Trivia Nights, Yoga in the Park, International Cuisine Outings, and much more. Friends, family, and future volunteers are always welcome, too!
